[New] Lemolo – Whale Song

I know I’m a little late to the blogosphere party on this one but this song and group is great. Our blog friends at Music Savage posted about this group a couple weeks ago, so I can’t take any credit for this find. The band consists of two friends, Meagan Grandall and Kendra Cox, who grew up on the Puget Sound, in a town called Poulsbo. Their name comes from Lemolo Shore Drive, which happens to be both of their favorite street in Poulsbo. The two didn’t actually meet until 4 years ago when they worked as sea kayaking instructors. After that, the rest was history.

“Whale Song” is an ode to childhood written for Meagan’s six-year-old child neighbor. The song brings summery lyrics with a laid back, fall beat, giving the song a nice pop and ambient feel to it. The song speaks to friendship and the innocence of childhood. This is a great first song to get you hooked on the group, who is currently working on a full length album.

You can read an interveiw with Meagan at KEXP, concerning the start of the band and “Whale Song”, here.

Enjoy.
